Description

LA CASA NUEVA BASEMENT VAULT DOOR BEFORE PAINT STRIPPING Color: Brown A color photograph of the La Casa Nueva basement vault door front before the stripping of an overcoat of white paint, ca. June 1978. The door is shown nearly in full with the handle at the left, the combination dial to the right of the handle, and two of the hinges on the right. The outlines of some of the decoration is clear, including a square panel at center which had a landscape scene beneath it. The paint striping revealed a black background with brightly painted colors in the landscape scene and decorative patterns around the door. On the reverse in blue ink is the inscription "Temple Vault Door / Bsmt / Detail mural / with over-paint / as found condition / prior to uncovering / Jeff Tyler photo / R-6 #2 / ca. June 1978." Below this, covered with a piece of tape, is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian, with his name, address, and telephone number. In good condition, the object has little indication of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
