Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the courtyard of La Casa Nueva, ca. 1941-42. The photographer stood on the lawn just to the west and south. The view is mainly of the east wing, including most of the west-facing section of the upstairs patio. The fountain is just slightly left of center and there appears to be some items on top of the larger millstone, though it is not clear what they are. Only the last column on the west portico can be seen and this is partially hidden by a mock orange bush. Part of the main roof is seen, as is the second floor balcony at the upper left. Other landscaping elements than the lawn and mock orange are a sycamore at right center; a hedge flanking the sidewalk leading to the southeast entrance; the sidewalk leading from the east portico toward the Tepee; ivy near the fountain up to a hedge surrounding the fountain; a tree in the corner of the courtyard, near where the New Zealand flame tree is today; and other bushes or shrubs. On the reverse center in pencil is the number "33." With only very slight discoloration, the photograph is in good condition.
