Description

LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD BALCONY BEAM BEFORE RESETTING Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of a beam in the La Casa Nueva Courtyard balcony before resetting, 27 February 1979. The beam is the longest extending one just below the balcony at its center. The beam is split along the upper portion and one half of the dog's head at the end is missing. The photographer stands on a scaffold, the rail of which is at left and the floor of which is at lower center. A ladder to ascend the scaffolding is also at lower left. At right is the arched wall and, above it, part of the balcony rail. At upper left is a portion of the upper west wing, including some of two windows; the wall below that; and the tile roof that covers the portico of the first floor, which is partially at the lower part of the image. An inscription in green ink at the bottom of the object reads "Before Resetting Dogs Head. / 2/27/79." With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
