LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD BALCONY EAST SIDE BEAM
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of a beam at the east side of the La Casa Nueva Courtyard balcony before replacement work, 28 February 1979. The beam is at the center and has much termite and/or dry rot damage at the end--details are hard to discern because the image is blurry. The beam later had an animal head attached to it as part of restoration. Above is the balcony rail, covered with a clear plastic sheet--perhaps because of the threat of rain. At right, just below the beam is part of the roof that covers the first floor portico and the roofing tiles appear to be wet. To the left of the beam is part of the white plaster on the wall spanning the north side of the courtyard. An inscription in green ink at the bottom of the object reads "East Timber projection To / Have Caved Bears Head. / 2/28/79." With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
