Description

LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD FROM ATOP THE MISSION WALKWAY TO THE SOUTH Color: Black; White A negative of the La Casa Nueva courtyard from atop the Mission Walkway to the south, ca. 1928. The view shows the entire area, although it is slightly from the west. Of note is the fountain, which does not appear to have water in it and which has items displayed on the millstones; the landscaping, including banana palm trees behind the fountain, ground cover in front of it and trees and grass to the south; a covered swing by Mrs. Bassity's Bedroom at the left; a small plant and stand next to Walter Sr.'s bedroom at the right; the balcony and lower section of the main block roof, including solar panels at the center; and a woman, possibly Mrs. Bassity, walking from the fountain toward the Kitchen. In the foreground are some of the grapevines from the atop the Mission Walkway trellis. Other than non-intrusive darkened areas at the top and bottom edges, there is no wear and damage and the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
