Description
LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD FROM THE SECOND-FLOOR BALCONY
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the courtyard of La Casa Nueva, as seen from the second-floor balcony, ca. 1941-42. The photographer stands on the eastern side of the balcony, focusing on, at center, the fountain, which is filled with water and appears to be running. On the larger millstone are some unidentifiable objects. Around the fountain can be seen the northern and western sides of the flagstone walkway and flanking the fountain are hedges. At the upper right is a small portion of the west wing, including two columns of the portico and what seems to be a metal frame swing next to the Housekeeper's room. Towards the upper left is a portion of the walkway to the Tepee from the east wing with some groundcover between the walk and the hedge near the fountain. South of the walk is part of the grass lawn. At the upper right is a tall bush. In the foreground, out of focus, is part of the balcony railing. At the center of the reverse is the penciled number "8." Aside from light stains and discoloration on the reverse, the artifact is in good condition.
