Description

LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD FROM THE SECOND FLOOR WEST WING PATIO Color: Black; White A photograph of the La Casa Nueva Courtyard from the second floor west wing patio, ca. 1928. The shadow of the photographer is visible on the fountain, which has metates and grinding bowls and other items on the larger millstone and lilypads in the water in the basin, indicating, perhaps, that the fountain was not operating as such, but as a small pool. The flagstone walkway around the fountain is largely visible, as is some of the landscaping in the planter to the left, including banana palm trees. Sections of the first floor patio portico, including a wooden chair, are notable, as is a small section of the second floor patio with portions of a swing, potted palms and other items. A small section of the tile roof below the photographer is at the lower left. With a small portion of the upper left corner missing, two other corners dented, and some surface soiling, the item is in good overall condition. Number-Units: 1
