Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the courtyard of La Casa Nueva, as seen from underneath the north side of the portico, ca. 1941-42. The photographer stood probably near the entry to the basement and, at center, is the fountain, which appears to be running. On the larger millstone are some unidentifiable objects. At left is the southern portion of the east wing, including four columns of the portico, the lower tile roof and a small portion of the upstairs dormitory. In the background is part of the south side of the Mission Walkway. Among the landscaping is a large bush at left; a hedge near the fountain, in front of which is some groundcover; and, at right, a small tree and some tall bushes or shrubs. A sycamore tree is partially visible behind the fountain. On the bottom right corner of the reverse is the stamped number "42." With dented corners; dents to the left and right edges and a couple of creases, notably in the upper left corner, the photograph is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
