Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the north wall of La Casa Nueva's courtyard, ca. 1927. The wall is across the bottom center with four beams situated along the top. The beam at the far left is carved in the likeness of Prince, the Temple family's German shepherd. The beam to the right of this is in the likeness of a cat owned by Thomas Temple. On the far right is the face of a third animal. Part of the east wing's ceramic shingles are near the bottom right and banana palms, behind which are two arches is the wall across the bottom. Along the top is the balcony's wood rail which has turned balusters and two plain posts at the far right and left. A corner of the Main Hall triptych window is in the back left, with the railing for the stairs in the center, and a fern, which appears to be on a table, on the right. Written on the back top left in blue and black ink is: "South Wall, Eastern half/ Temple Mansion/ detail enlargement/ R-10/ ENLARGEMENT FROM A PRINT in Walter Temple JR's/ Collection/ -made by Jeff Tyler, ALHAMBRA Jan. 1979."
