LA CASA NUEVA DOOR PANEL RECREATIONEntry/Object ID
99.5.33.895Description
Color: Brown
A copy of a color polaroid photograph of a carved wood panel for an unspecified door in La Casa Nueva, ca. 1979. In the background, painted in dark brown, is the original panel inset in the door, which spans across the photograph and seems to be placed next to a tile wall (some of the tiles are at bottom right.) In front of the original, on a plain wood table, are two square panels. The bottom is the first step in the process of carving and part of the panel has gray or dark coloring in it. The panel at the top is a more complete version with the carving finished. On the upper reverse is a dark ink inscription reading "Temple Mansion / wood carving for interior / doors in progress / completed panel above / beginning panel below / original panel in bkgd. / photo by archt 12/5/78." Below this, covered with a piece of tape, is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
