Description
LA CASA NUEVA FROM OUTSIDE THE SOUTHEAST MISSION WALKWAY GATEWAY
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of La Casa Nueva from outside the southeastern Mission Walkway gateway, ca. 1941-42. The photographer stood on the walk near where the Workman tile panel is located. Flanking the arched gate on the right is a cypress tree and part of a rough-hewn bench. Through the gate is the flagstone sidewalk, bordered by hedges, leading to the home with the south end of the east wing at the center [note the window at the end of the second-floor dormitory.] Part of the west wing is off to the left, including part of the portico and the east facing side of the second floor dormitory. Part of the landscaping, including bushes, shrubs, and small trees are notable. This is essentially the same view as item .113, except the exposure is lighter and the positioning is slightly different [note the bench legs by comparison.] On the reverse, right is a pencil inscription "118% AND 76% / 2A / Terri." Next to this in ink is "+31-160 and +12-160" while at the left edge in ink is "23-185." Other than some discoloration on the reverse, especially at the top edge, the artifact is in good condition.
