Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of La Casa Nueva and the Mission Walkway from the Workman House, 19 April 1926 [photo processing date.] The photographer, probably Thomas W. Temple II, stood on a grassy area next to the west side of the Workman House. Much of La Casa Nueva is obscured by the Mission Walkway and some landscaping. The hipped, tile roof, chimney and some of the plastered wall are visible, as are parts of some window openings. The northern end of the west side of the Mission Walkway, including the tiled top and the continuation of the wall into the enclosure that continues around the front extends across the center from left to right. Small palm trees and bushes are in the planter between the walkway and the center driveway, which is partially visible. In the foreground, a wire fence marks the Workman House area and there are vines of some kind growing on the fence. At the upper left corner is a branch with leaves from a tree. On the reverse the word "VELOX" is imprinted onto the paper and, at center, there is a stamp: "WEBBS / APR 19 1926 / SAN JOSE." In the lower right corner is an ink-stamped number "45" crossed out and a number "37" written in pencil above it. Aside from a small stain at the left of the reverse and light edge discoloration, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
