Description

LA CASA NUEVA SOUTHWEST CORNER AND TEPEE, FROM THE WEST LAWN Color: Black; White A negative of the southern end of the west elevation of La Casa Nueva and the Tepee from the West Lawn, ca. 1927. The view is from the Mission Walkway and West Lawn junction, noting the grapes at the top right corner. The portion of the house shown is from the Guest Bedroom to the end of the west wing and includes that section of the second floor patio with potted palm trees, a hose line climbing the wall and the rough wood beams spanning the pillars. In the foreground are roses, a planter seen in part on far left, and some of the bushes along the house wall, as well as a few trees. The Tepee is to the right, completed, and with branches sticking out of the top. The roof of the auditorium is visible at center, as are the top of the historic San Gabriel palm tree at left and the grape arbor on the southern end of the Mission Walkway at the center. Although there is darkening at the top and bottom edges, some of which may slightly intrude onto the image at the upper right, the overall condition is good. Number-Units: 1
