Description

LA CASA NUEVA TEPEE CONSTRUCTION, FROM THE EAST, 1927 Color: Black; White A negative of the La Casa Nueva Tepee under construction, ca. 1927, taken from the east and showing the adobe walls, window casings, front patio wall, a portion of a planter, and a slight view of the West Lawn area at the right. Of note are the unplastered walls laid in about three-quarters to the eventual height of the structure. At the top and through the windows and door is the wood scaffolding used by workers to lay adobe bricks from the inside. At the right side of the building is a window or skylight with a protruding beam. In the foreground are the unstuccoed columns on the short wall on the patio. Piles of dirt are in front of the walls and, at the right, is an adobe planter with flowers in it. At the left and right background are sections of the Mission Walkway and grapes growing on its trellis. A small section of the West Lawn is also at right along with what may be the two extant sycamore trees growing near the Tepee. Aside from non-intrusive darkening at the top and bottom edge, there seems to be little or no wear or damage and the condition of the artifact is good. Number-Units: 1
