Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of La Casa Nueva under construction, taken from the driveway at the north end of the Workman House, ca. 1925. The photographer stood in the center of the drive, which curved to the left to pass between La Casa Nueva and the Workman House, which is out of the image at the left. La Casa Nueva looks largely finished with the roof completed, doors and windows in and so forth. There is scaffolding along the front elevation and the front patio does not appear to be completed. Portions of the Mission Walkway can be seen at center left and center right. Trees, bushes and shrubs, though not the historic palm planted at the southeastern corner of the home later in 1925, are planted. A wire fence with metal posts; a grass lawn; and some plants in the area at the north of the Workman House are at left. Stamped on the paper at the reverse is "VELOX"; the number "36" is stamped at lower right; a pencil inscription at upper right reads "Brown"; another such inscription, by a former museum curator at upper left is "Source - Bob Brown"; and a third pencil inscription at lower left reads "5x7 Sepia." Other than some surface soiling, the image is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
