Color: White, brown
A program for the Fiesta de San Gabriel, September 1959. Wrapped in a white paper cover, the front has an image of the Mission San Gabriel at lower center, the title of the fiesta at top, followed by the dates of the celebration. At the bottom is the name of the mission and its founding dates, with a notation that it had been conducted by the Claretian Fathers since 1908. The twenty-page program outlines events for the commemoration of the founding of the mission on 8 September 1771. Included are introductory comments by Thomas W. Temple II, who was the Mission Historian; a proclamation by the mayor of San Gabriel, Paul T. Erskine; a biography of the Mission pastor Michael Montoya; facts about the city; a list of events for the four-day celebration; a brief history of the Mission; and many advertisements for local businesses. Aside from curling and some discoloration, the program is in good condition.
