Description

A photograph of La Societe de Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, Los Angeles, California. 1918. The name of the group roughly translates to the Society of forty men and eight horses. The image shows a group of men and women standing outside of a wagon with some sitting on the roof and inside of the caravan. Some of the men are dressed as soldiers and the women are dressed as nurses. The cart reads "Hommes Voiture 47." which was an organization created by WWI soldiers returning from the warfront in France. It is assumed the women in the photo are from a local film shoot. With a tear on the right side, crazing, pin hold, foxing, warping, discoloration, photo album backing and adhesive residue, the object is in fair condition overall.
