Description

Color: Black; Red; White "Laugh, Clown, Laugh," sheet music issued by the Remick Music Corp., New York, 1928. The song, with lyrics by Lewis and Young and music by Ted Fiorito, was the theme song to the motion picture of the same name, starring Lon Chaney, who is pictured dressed in a clown's outfit at the center of the front cover. Above, at the top, is the song title, with the songwriters' names at the left. The publisher's name and city of business is at the bottom. On the back cover is a recitation, mixing the piece "Viesta la Guibba" in its first sixteen lines and the final 16 bars of the chorus to "Laugh, Clown, Laugh" as the final seven lines. Of note is that the song is tuned to a ukelele in D and in a valse moderato tempo. There is also an authors' note that the recitation above referred to was included due to public request. In fair condition, there is spine abrasions; acid burns on the front cover; creases; some soiling; discoloration; and overall wear.
