Description

Color: Black; Brown; White A sepia-toned postcard of actress Laura La Plante, ca. 1920s. La Plante is at the left of the center, smiling and turned to the right. Her hair is brushed back and she wears a lace top which is ruffled at the collar and sleeves. Her right arm is stretched out and in her right hand she holds a rose. At the right of the background is a piano on which are several objects including a candelabra. The name of publisher Verlag Ross is in white at the bottom left corner, and the name of the Universal Film Corporation is on the right. The name of the actress is at the center of the bottom in brown. On the back are blank lines for the address and a square box for postage. According to Walter P. Temple, Jr. La Plante visited the Homestead in the 1920s and is said to have swum in the Temple family's swimming pool/reservoir. With only light abrasions at the corners, some surface soiling, and slight warping, the artifact is in good condition.
