"Leavitt's Old Farmer's Almanack, and Miscellaneous Year Book, For The Year of Our Lord 1854...containing a new map of California," No. LVIII, by Dudley Leavitt. The pamphlet is sewn together with thread at the left edge with a loop at the top for hanging, evidence of three prior bindings. It is in poor condition with edge tears and a ragged fore edge, major foxing throughout, insect holes, staining, some loss and loose thread on the binding edge. The almanac is illustrated with engravings depicting different agricultural activities for each month of the year. It is divided by month and details the lunar cycle, observable days, weather patterns, astronomical calculations, sunrise and sunset times, tide marks and other information used for farming, agriculture and gold mining.
