Description

LEDGER, I. KAUFFMAN AND SON, JANUARY-JUNE 1907 A page from the ledger of the general merchadise firm of I. Kauffman and Son, El Monte, 1907. The page is a preprinted form with the names of the proprietors, Isaac Kauffman and his son, Milton at the top left and right corners, followed by the location and company name. A stamp with the new firm name, Kauffman Mercantile Co. is between the location and company name. In the ruled columns are a list of transaction with "Mrs. Vanzuela [sic]" from 7 January to 6 June 1907, giving the items purchased and the amounts. Milton Kauffman was later Walter Temple's business partner. It is not known why this was in the Temple family's possession, other than that it was attached to another page with Walter Temple's purchases. The document is in fair condition with folds into quarters; holes at the upper left where a pin joined this to two other sheets (97.58.7.4 and .5); creases; and very light discoloration.
