A decorative plate titled "Les Puits que Parle", manufactured by Le Rosey in France, ca. 1900. The plate has a gold scalloped edge about 1/4" wide. Within this there is a dark blue border with a pattern of gold stylized dragons (with wings tinted slightly darker), urns, and floral designs about 1 1/4" wide. This is followed by another band of gold with the same design as at the edge. The plate face, about 6" in diameter, shows a woman at a well, wearing a skirt of red and green, with a dark colored vest and white shirt and a man leaning over a wall behind her and wearing a blue coat and blue cap with red feather. On the reverse is the maker's mark and title (see marks/inscriptions.) In good condition with only minor scratches on the bottom edge. In gold ink on the reverse at the center is "Le Rosey/x1/Rue de la Taix". Just above this in gold ink is "Le Puits qui parle (The Waters that speak)."
