A letter to Edith Barclay from an unidentified writer from Syracuse, New York referencing Jonathan R. Scott and family, 24 October 1917. Allusions are made to the family of Scott, a New York native who was later a prominent attorney and justice of the peace in Los Angeles during the 1850s and early 1860s as well as land Scott owned in Los Angeles that descendants in New York were looking to claim (see remaining items in this accession for more.) Much of the letter concerns family affairs. The letter is typed with an ink inscription at the end. With tears on folds and edges and some staining, the condition is fair.
