Description
LETTERS AND NOTES ON THE TEXAN SANTA FE EXPEDITION, 1841-1842
Color: Green
"Letters and Notes on the Texan Santa Fe Expedition, 1841-1842" by Thomas Falconer with an introduction and notes by F. W. Hodge (New York: Dauber & Pine Bookshops, Inc., 1930), 159 pp. The hardcover book has a light green cover with paper labels on the spine and front cover giving the title and author's name with the former also listing the publisher's name and location. The work is a reminiscence with historical background and notes by Hodge of the expedition sent by the Republic of Texas to the Mexican province of New Mexico as an invasion in 1841. Mentioned briefly is the role of John Rowland and William Workman, along with later Los Angeles resident William G. Dryden, as civilian commissioners of the Texan government in New Mexico. Falconer explicitly mentions Dryden and Rowland as inviting the Texans to come to a certain part of New Mexico, but does not mention Workman. With some overall surface soiling, especially on the paper labels, and scratches on the cover and some discoloration on the pages and cover, the object is in fair condition.
