"Life," March 1, 1928, published by the Life Publishing Company. The magazine has 40 pages and the title at the top of the front cover in yellow letters over a blue background. Just below and to the left is the date, while to the right is the price. On an orange background is an image by John Held, Jr., called "The Tattooed Man Goes Collegiate!" which includes Held's famous Charleston dancers on the torso of the cartoon figure posing like a bodybuilder on a pedestal. Several male and female characters are at the bottom looking at the tattooed man. The caption is at the bottom within a blue background. Much of the material is focused on humor, relating to politics, such as Robert Benchley's take on political parties, but also smaller features on entertainment; domestic life; humor from other journals and magazines; brief descriptions of new films; and others. Many political cartoons, drawings, and advertisements are also in the issue. In good condition, the artifact has spine abrasions, and cover creases, soiling, discoloration, a penciled number "9" within a circle at the top left of the front, and small stains.Lexicon
