LINDEKE-WARNER AND SONS 1917 CATALOG ANNOUNCEMENT
Color: Silver, green, orange
"The Lindeke-Warner & sons Catalog Announcement," 1917. A dust jacket for the company's February-March bulletin of consumer goods; a letter written by the company is adhered to the inside back cover. The letter-head includes a black and white illustration of the company's store viewed from the north-east corner. The building is of brick with seven floors; the company name is on top along the edges and an American flag is perched on the east corner. Street traffic consisting of pedestrians, street cars and horse-drawn carriages can be seen below. To the right hand corner of the illustration is the company's name and description of business: "LINDEKE, WARNER & SONS/ JOBBERS OF/ DRY GOODS AND NOTIONS/ MANUFACTURERS/ MENS FURNISHING GOODS/ MILL AGENTS AND IMPORTERS/ HOSIERY AND UNDERWEAR/ ST. PAUL." Below is the letter in blue ink with the heading: "PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY." The announcement points to the fluctuating market conditions as the reason why the company has opted not to issue its annual catalog; customers are asked to retain last year's catalogs and to refer to the "Bulletin" and leaflets as sources for merchandise listings. Catalog service is promised upon the stabilization of the market; patience is requested with the assurance of serving the consumer in the best possible manner ending with: "VERY TRULLY YOURS,/ LINDEKE WARNER & SONS." On the front of the cover is the title in silver lettering; an orange star in a black circle appears above, with the company trade mark below the title in orange. At the bottom in silver is: "SAINT PAUL. U.S.A" With folded corners and edges, the item is in good condition
