Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of the La Casa Nueva Living Room fireplace, ca. 1927. The exposure blackened the middle of the image, but much of it is still clearly visible, including the bottom of the wood mantel at the top; the decorative plasterwork beneath this; the Mexican tile that surrounds the hearth opening; the iron screen with andirons lying horizontally on a rack at the front of the screen; and a portion of a wood box at left. There appears to be another decorative item on the floor at lower right, but it cannot be made out. On the reverse center is an ink stamp, reading "ANDERSON / Photo Service / EL MONTE." At the top edge in the hand of a former museum curator is the penciled inscription "source - Mel Gooch." Gooch was the project coordinator for the restoration of the site in the 1970s. With an ink stain right of center on the reverse and some light discoloration, the photo is in otherwise good condition.
