Description

A panoramic photograph, "Local Board #17 -- Last Quota" taken by Huddleston Photo Company, Los Angeles, 11 November 1918. The image, taken on the day the armistice was signed ending formal hostilities in World War I, shows 815 men standing in what seems to be a schoolyard along with some uniformed offciers and other man, perhaps composing the draft board. There are two men in the center holding American flags. In the background is a large building, at left is what may be some play equipment. In the background at right are some residential structures largely obscured by a pepper tree. The caption and date are at the top and the photographer's information at the lower left. A pencil inscription of the event and a photographer's stamp are on the reverse. This item came with significant tears, some stains, soiling, and is now in two pieces from a damaged fold, with the smaller one nearly torn along another fold, so the condition is poor.
