LONGFELLOW/SHAKESPEARE PANELS, LA CASA NUEVA LIBRARY AUTHORS DOOR
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph, consisting of 8 photographs scotch-taped together, of the panels showing Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and William Shakespeare in the author's window in the La Casa Nueva library, ca. 1978. Longefellow is shown at top and Shakespeare at the bottom, both within round medalllion-like borders with grouping of leaves within them and scrolls underneath with their last names in capital letters. The center panel is clear glass with angled leading creating diamond patterns. At the center front of the image is written, in black ink, "B set", while on the reverse in pencil reads "B Set./in blue ink "Temple Mansion/Library Door to Patio/Author Windows/Full Scale/(West Leaf)/in pencil in script "Longfellow + Shakespeare." At the upper left corners of each section in blue ink reads "#5", and, in pencil, "B Set. Shakespeare + Longfellow". In fair condition, there is pressure-sensitive tape; many creases; pin holes; small tears on the edges and corners; and edge abrasion.
