A closeup view of a siphon of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, 5 January 1917. The mouth of the concrete siphon, with the two large metal valves, are in view, along with some dark-colored pipe, access stairs, and a young boy standing at the edge of the channel. Portions of hillside an a wire and barbed wire fence are also notable. An inscription on the reverse is "Gate of Los Angeles aqueduct / 232 miles long, erected at a / cost of 22 million / Renfield Reed in picture / 1/5.17" Aside from minor edge wear and light soiling, the condition is good.
