Description

"Los Angeles As It Appeared in 1871," published by the University Women's Club of Los Angeles, 1929. Identified as "approved by the Historical Society of Southern California", the map has a bird's-eye view of the town with streets, the Los Angeles and San Pedro Railroad line, buildings, the Plaza, Central Park [Pershing Square] and other landmarks, many of which are numbered and identified. At the periphery of the item are portions of ranchos and other landmarks near the ocean. There are also pictorial images of landmarks in the margins. With creases, edge tears, tape-repaired areas, and soiling, the overall condition is fair.
