Description

"Los Angeles Blue Book, 1928," published by Raymond J. Wolfsohn, Los Angeles. The item has a blue velvet-like cover with gold lettering with the city logo and the title on the front. The item has listings of persons in society as arranged by location including Los Angeles; Hollywood; Beverly Hills; Pasadena; South Pasadena; Altadena; Santa Monica, Ocean Park and Venice; "Marriages of the Year;" and Southern California clubs. The listings for Los Angeles have alphabetical tabs at the right edge for easy location of persons, while the rest of the locations do not. Listings show the names of married couples (often including the full maiden name of the wife), addresses and telephone numbers. Other information sometimes includes names of children, clubs and organizations which the person(s) belonged to, and addresses of summer residences. There are many advertisements throughout, including the front and back pages and at the tops and bottoms of listing pages. With corner rubbing, acid burns on pages, brittleness, dents at the top left corner, fading of the cover, discoloration of the cover, folds on pages, foxing, looseness of the spine, losses on the back and front edges, moisture damage, stains, and tears on the cover, the condition is fair.
