Description

Color: Blue; Red; White "Los Angeles Buyer's Guide," published by the Southern California Telephone Company, March 1929, and revised to January 1 of that year. The front cover has the title, date, product logo with the phrase "Tells / WHERE / to Buy it," and information about the directory within a blue border at the center. At the top are emergency phone numbers for ambulances, and the police and fire departments. At the bottom, in a red bordered box, is an advertisement for a cab company. Arranged as a telephone directory, the listings begin immediately with the letter "A" by type of business. Company names, addresses, and telephone numbers are provided and some company names are in bold letters, while others are in boxes, providing more information about the services the company offers. On most pages, there are a varying number and size of advertisements. These are also found on the rear cover and the inside of both covers. With the covers very damaged and worn and containing many creases, tears, losses, and discoloration, and pages with creases, soiling, browning, brittleness, losses at corners, and some pages with tears, the condition of the item is poor.
