On the reverse cover is another composite image with mountains, a crumbling arched adobe wall with "Californio" persons standing within, orange trees, and a cornucopia at the bottom. Agricultural fields and field workers are also included. Contents include a title page; introduction; county description; article on the climate; sections of county communities organized geographically, such as "Eastern Foothill Cities," "San Gabriel Valley," including Puente, "South & South-East," "South & South-West," "Westward to the Sea," "North & North-West," "Western Bay Cities & Resorts," "The Harbor District," "San Fernando Valley," "Antelope Valley," Los Angeles city, and the Channel Islands; and articles on agriculture, commerce, industrial development, aviation, cultural elements, education, recreation, and hotels and apartments.
