The first page consists of the official city and county directory of officers and a list of state Democratic Central Committee members, as well as seven columns of advertising. Page two has local, state, and national news, including dispatches by telegraph, and a letter from an El Monte citizen about a proposed railroad subsidy for the Southern Pacific Railroad line to Los Angeles from the north. There are also four columns of advertising, including new listings. Page three concerns local news and items on court, weather, railroad shipments, and real estate transactions, as well as five columns of advertising. Page four consists of market reports and the remainder is advertising. At the top right of the first page is, in pencil, the name "L. P. Fisher," later editor of the Santa Monica Outlook newspaper. With creases, soiling, darkening, a horizontal center fold, some large stains, and small tears, the condition is fair.Lexicon
