"Los Angeles Daily Star," Volume 10, Number 219, September 18, 1875. The newspaper has the title at the top with an image of agriculture, a railroad, two hands clasped in a handshake, and a center star at the center of the masthead. Below is the city of publication, day and date, and volume and issue number. On the first page are six columns of advertisements and two columns of state and national news. Among the ads are references to the recent bank suspensions, including that of Temple and Workman. Page two has an editorial about the 1876 presidential election and the rest is taken up with advertisements, which also completely make up the third page. Some of these ads concern corporations that include F. P. F. Temple as a principal. Page four has three-and-a-quarter columns of local news, including court and real estate listings and a report from the school board on city school finances. There are four-and-three-quarters columns of advertising that make up the rest of the page. The name of original owner, L. P. Fisher, a newspaper publisher with the Santa Monica Outlook then an agent in San Francisco, is in pencil and near it is a stamp from the Bancroft Library on the front page. With brittleness, some soiling, page darkening, losses, tears, separation of the center fold, and general wear, the item is in poor condition.Lexicon
