"Los Angeles Evening Express," published by The Express, Vol. 6 No. 112, Saturday, February 1, 1873. The newspaper has the title at the top of the front along with an illustration of a steam locomotive. At the left and center of the front page are many advertisements for businesses, including one for the Temple and Workman bank. A column along the right contains several short news articles that deal with some of the country's general news items. California news stories begin at the bottom and continue onto the inside pages and a column along the left of the back. These articles concern mostly the climate, agriculture, property sales, and minor crimes. Page three concerns local news. Throughout pages two and three on the inside, and the back page, are many more advertisements for general stores, hotels, doctors, tailors, leisure activities, and many other businesses. Many of the advertisements contain small illustrations. The artifact has some creases, yellowing of the paper, small stains, and some tears, but is otherwise in good condition overall.Lexicon
