Description

A stereoscopic photograph, "LOS ANGELES, NO. 9," by Francis Parker, Los Angeles, ca. 1877. The image taken from Fort Moore or Poundcake Hill looks toward the southern and southeastern portions of the city, with a mix of residential and commercial structures in view. In the distance is the Southern Pacific Railroad depot and farming area around it. Parker's name is at the left, the series "Southern California Views" at the right, and the caption is at the lower left of the right frame. With some soiling, edge abrasions, a stain or two, and a loss of the back upper left matte, the condition overall is good.
