Description

"Los Angeles Oil District No. 8A," ca. 1900s. The unmounted cabinet card image shows dozens of wooden oil derricks crowded on a low hill, amongst which are some homes and other structures, as well as wooden tanks. At the bottom left is a derrick and tank identified as "Turner Bros," with a horse-drawn tanker cart stands next to the well. A dirt road ascends the hill from the center toward the right and another street crosses the photo from left to right. With tears, heavy soiling, creases and some stains, the condition is poor.
