Description

LOS ANGELES STEAMSHIP COMPANY BROCHURE ON HAWAIIAN TRIPS Color: Black; White A brochure on Hawaii vacations by the Los Angeles Steamship Company, printed on 1 January 1927. The front cover has a photograph with a person in silhouette playing a ukulele and leaning against a palm tree at sunset. Above is "HAWAII / All Inclusive / Three Weeks / TOURS / From / LOS ANGELES." At the bottom is the company name. On the back cover is a map of the island chain, distances from Honolulu to Los Angeles, Hilo, Hawaii (island) and Kahului, Maui, the company office and listing of offices in eight other cities. When first opened, there are two panels in the brochure describing the islands and their interest to visitors. There is a photo of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu at the top. When opened again, there are four panels continuing the narrative from the earlier page and providing a day-by-day itinerary and a description of the ships involved. There are images on each panel of scenes in the islands. The next four panels provide information on automobile trips, trip information, and hotels. Photos on these panels are of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the "City of Honolulu" steamship, and the Moana Hotel. The final four panels detail tour options, providing tour length and costs, with the first three involving ship travel from Los Angeles and the fourth involving interisland travel. The last panel has information on non-hotel lodging. With some creases, surface soiling, finger stains, spine tears, and folds, the item is in good overall condition.
