Description

"LOS ANGELES TIMES ANNUAL MIDWINTER NUMBER, PART FOUR," 3 JANUARY 1928 Color: Black; White "Los Angeles Times Annual Midwinter Number, Part Four," 3 January 1928. The item has a brown and white cover with a photograph of a Hollywood mansion in a stylized square-shaped field. At the bottom is the title and part number, date, and price. The section is identified as "Life on the West Coast," and shows photographs of expensive homes; outdoor facilities, such as the Hollywood Bowl, outdoor plays, beaches; and sports stadiums; romanticized fiestas and pageants, such as San Gabriel's Mission Play, and views of some California missions; rodeos; a portion of Los Angeles' Mayan Theater, juxtaposed with a Mayan ruin in Mexico; and islands such as Catalina. There are many advertisements for businesses, largely dealing with construction, hotels, and real estate in southern California. With much brittleness, many creases, soiling, browning, flaking, folds, losses, and tears, the condition is poor.
