Description

"LOS ANGELES TIMES COOK BOOK, NUMBER FOUR," 1911 Color: Black; White "Los Angeles Times Cook Book, Number Four," published by The Times-Mirror Company, 1911. The cover is white paper on cloth and on the front is the title of the book at the top, the publisher's name and price at the bottom and there is information about the contents at the center of the front cover. On the back is an advertisement for food products. The 199-page book, with a table of contents on the last page, is filled with recipes, including some identified as "California," "Spanish," and "Mexican." All listings have the names and addresses of those who supplied the recipe, which in many cases are for more than one of the same dish. At the front is a short preface and there are some advertisements at the end. With page brittleness, back cover dents near the bottom center, heavy soiling of the cover, major browning of pages, losses to the spine and cover edges, and stains and tears on the cover, the overall condition is fair.
