"Los Angeles Times Economy Cook Book, Number Five," published by The Times-Mirror Company, 1917. The softcover book has the title at the top, the publisher's name and price at the bottom and there is information about the contents at the center of the front cover. On the back is an advertisement for food products. The 57-page book, with a table of contents on the last page, is filled with recipes divided into typical categories, such as soups, salads, meats, fish, desserts and so forth, but also includes "Spanish Dishes." There are also menus, tables and miscellaneous recipes. At the front is a short preface and there are some advertisements at the end. With spine rubbing, cover brittleness, creases, heavy soiling, page yellowing, cover flaking, folds on four pages at the bottom corners, loose elements and losses to the cover, moisture damage, pin holes from housing in a binder or some other holder, many stains, staple tarnish, and tears on the cover, the condition is poor.Lexicon
