LUCILLE WORKMAN WITH HUGH AND EARLINE BURTON AND UNIDENTIFIED MAN (POSS. REUBEN H. MONTENEGRO)
Color: Black and white
A black and white reproduction photograph of Lucille C. Workman, her grandson-in-law, Hugh R. Burton; her great-granddaughter, Earline Burton; and an unidentified man, who might be her second husband, Reuben Montenegro, ca. 1938. The group stands on the sidewalk near the cafe owned by the Montenegros in Compton. Lucille Montenegro is at center wearing a dark floral-print dress with black sweater. Hugh Burton wears a dark shirt, unbuttoned at the collar, and what are probably gray slacks with dark belt. In his right arm, he holds his daughter, Earline, who wears a checked-pattern dress, dark coat, and dark pillbox-like hat. The man at left, who may be Reuben Montenegro, has on a neutral or gray three-piece suit, white shirt, dark patterned tie, and snap-brim cap. The cafe is at rear partially obscured by a palm tree and there is a sidewalk and lawn that may be in front of the Montenegro home. At far left is seen part of a street and a parked car in front of the cafe. The reproduced photo is in mint condition.
