Description

Color: Black; White A reproduction negative of Main Street and Glendora Ave. in La Puente, 1947. Main Street is seen in the center running east with automobiles parked facing towards the sidewalk on both sides. Two trees are on the left sidewalk with a lightpole on the corner, and a sign reading, "GLENDORA AVENUE." Also on the corner is the flat-roofed Spear's Pharmacy with an awning facing Glendora, and two facing Main. On the top corner of the building is a sign reading, "DRUGS." A crosswalk is across the center leading to the right side of the street. Many lightpoles and a long brick building line this side of the street. On the side of the building is a sign reading, "CARDON MARKET"; below is an advertisement for Coca-Cola after which is the word, "GROCERIES." Many business signs line the top of the building but are illegible. In the background are trees; utility poles and wires; buildings; and a hill. Glendora Ave. is across the foreground; on the left, top, and right are the leaves of a tree. On the bottom right corner is the photographer's mark which reads, "Main Street Puente, Calif./ H & H Photo - Pomona." With no signs of wear, the image, which has a corresponding print in 2000.282.1.4, is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
