Description

Color: Black; White A negative of a black and white photograph of Main Street and Glendora Avenue in La Puente, 1947. Main Street is in the center running east toward the background with automobiles parked facing towards the sidewalk on both sides. Two trees are on the left sidewalk with a light post on the corner, and a sign reading, "GLENDORA AVENUE." Also on the corner is the flat-roofed Spear Pharmacy building with an awning facing Glendora, and two facing Main; on the top corner of the building is a sign reading, "DRUGS." A crosswalk is across the center leading to the right side of the street. Many lightposts and a long brick building line this side of the street. On the side of the building is a sign reading, "CARDON MARKET," while below this is an advertisement for Coca-Cola and a sign reading, "GROCERIES." Many business signs line the top of the building but cannot be read. In the background are trees, utility posts and wires, buildings, and "P" hill. Glendora is across the foreground, while at the left, top, and right are the leaves of a tree. On the bottom right corner is the photographer's mark which reads, "Main Street Puente, Calif./ H & H Photo - Pomona." With no signs of wear, the negative, which has a corresponding print in 99.5.11.237, is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
