Description

MAIN STREET, CENTRAL, AND GLENDORA IN LA PUENTE, 1920s Color: Black; White A negative of a black and white photograph of Main, Central, and Glendora Streets in La Puente, 1920s. Seen from the southeast, Glendora is on the far left running north to south. Central is in the back center running east and out of view, the same as Main on the far right. Across the back center on the corner of Glendora and Central is a gas station and a two-story building. The gas station, on the far left behind a utility pole, has three pillars on either side and a flat roof overhead. Below are two gas pumps and an automobile to the left. In the back, the two-story building has four awnings on the first floor, with the two in the center rolled up, windows along the second floor, a flat roof with a tile-covered overhang, and a sign on the top left reading, "COLD DRINKS." Two automobiles are parked in front of the building with a third turning onto Glendora. On the corner of Central and Main is a utility pole, next to which is the Spear Pharmacy building, which has a flat roof, awnings on the corner and along Main, a double doorway on the corner, and a large window facing Main. A sign over the door reads, "SPEAR / PHARMACY"; to the left is another sign reading, "SPEAR," with yet a third illegible. Written across the bottom front is, "Puente, Cal. 8." With no signs of wear, the image, which has a corresponding print in 99.5.11.238, is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
