Color: Black; Gold
A phonograph record with the songs "Makin' Whoopee!" and "I'm Bringing a Red-Red Rose" on it, catalog number 4142 distributed by Brunswick Records, 1928. Both were fox trots written by the team of Kahn and Donaldson and featured in the play or film "Whoopee" and performed by Ben Bernie and His Hotel Roosevelt Orchestra with a vocal chorus on both by Scrappy Lambert. The label has a shield with a script letter "B" within it and a fleur-de-lis design around the outside. On a black background is the label name, the title and tempo of the piece, its composers, the type of music (fox trot with vocal chorus), the performers, the catalog number, and the name of the distributor. On the B-side is a small white label with the date "12/7/1928" inscribed on it in pen. A sleeve, not the original, but rather from the later 1930s, came with the record and is item 2. With scratches, abrasions, and fingerprints throughout, the artifact is in fair condition.Lexicon
