2003.183.1.1Description
Color: Black; White
A map of Harvard University, corrected to 1 September 1925. The front of the map has a key with names and numbered locations, as well as a list of buildings and their dates of completion, referenced on the map on the left, right, and bottom sides of the map, which is bordered and has alpha upper and lower case) referents on the top and left sides, respectively. The title and scale of feet is at the top left. In addition to the quadrants formed by the referents mentioned above, there are concentric circles that indicate 1/4 mile increments from University Hall. Towards the bottom is the Charles River and Soldiers Field, the athletic stadium. The main portion of the campus is at the right, including Langdell Hall, where the law school Thomas W. Temple II attended was located, at the far left of the Eb quadrant. Also of note is Brattle Street, two blocks north of the river, where Thomas Temple lived in the 1920s. It should also be noted that William W. Temple, Thomas' uncle, attended Harvard in the 1870s, before Langdell Hall was built. On the reverse is a detail map of the campus with buildings and their names, streets, and indications of which of these latter went to Boston. A title and scale of feet is at the upper left. With minor creasing, slight yellowing, several folds, and one small tear at the top near the center, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
