Description

Color: Blue; Red; White A piece of sheet music for "Marianette," 1927. Called "A Beautiful Spanish Love Song" at the top of the sheet, the tune's lyrics were written by Elmer Naylor, Billy Hays, and Perry Alexander, while the music was composed by Lou Herscher. The cover has a dark blue background with the title in white letters with red borders at the top, under which is an image of a woman wearing a red and black shawl, black heeled shoes; and black earrings with a red flower over her left ear standing on a set of stairs holding a red, black and white fan in her right hand. To her left is the wall of a building with a wall lantern; over her are branches and leaves of a tree; and behind her is a full white moon. To lower right, a white river and blue landscape of hills and trees is in the background. In the moon are the lyricists' and composer's names, while the words "UKELELE ACCOMPANIMENT" are on the wall. In a banner below this is the publisher's name and city. The inside of the front cover is a portion of a song "Just a Little Cuter" (Than The Rest) by Alexander and Lou Seidenman, while a pull out sheet and the inside of the back page are the arrangements for "Marianette: A Spanish Love Song." The back cover, in red, has samples of four songs, "Mother Dear"; "Just One More Waltz"; "Monkey Biz-ness (Down in Tennessee); and "Just A Little Cuter" (Than The Rest.) Aside from creases at the upper right and lower right corners and portions of the edges, the artifact is in good condition.
